Okay, so apparently this game was released last year but I totally missed it's release otherwise I would have covered it. I mean when I was in computer class in Jr High a lot of my time was used playing Oregon Trail. I know many people have played that game and can probably relate to having most of your team die by dysentery. So when I saw a review for a game called Organ Trail over on Gamespot's yutube channel from "The Indie Hour" my jaw just dropped. I think it is genius that someone created a retro zombie game and mixed in elements from The Oregon Trail to it. The developer of the game is actually The Men Who Wear Many Hats and you can buy the game for PC/ Mac/ Linux, iOS or Android. It will cost you $ 4.99 for PC/Mac and Linux and $ 2.99 for mobile devices. Description

Organ Trail is a retro zombie survival game. Travel westward in a station wagon with 4 of your friends, scavenging for supplies and fending off the undead. Members of your party might die of dysentery or you might have to put them down yourself when they get bit. Faithfully recreated it as if it were on the Apple 2, Organ Trail offers amazing 16 color art and retro beeps and boops. Packed full of zombie mechanics, themes and references, this is a must have for any zombie survival fans. Created by a small indie team in Chicago, The Men Who Wear Many hats are very excited to make this game for you.

History

After 3 months in development we released the game for free Haloween 2011 in flash and continued to support it 3 months after. We were going to walk away from the idea but the fans grew and grew and everyone demanded we put it on mobile. So about 6 months later we shelved the project we were doing to return to Organ Trail. The idea this time was to improve it and make it worth paying for. We started a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of buying a Unity license. We asked for $ 3,000 and got over $ 16,000. We have since used the extra money to form a studio, pay people who actually work on the game and go to PAX. Ryan even quit his professional industry job to work full time on the game. Organ Trail: Director's cut is now a much bigger and badder game, and our first commercial product. We released on August 9th for iOS and Android with near monthly updates and support. After trying to get into Steam via the Greenlight service, we decided to work on an expansion for the game to add more value.
